Washington requires paid sick leave for all employers but does not require vacation payout. Sick leave accrues at 1 hour per 40 hours worked. Washington's wage payment laws enforce written employer vacation policies.
Washington's mandatory paid sick leave is one of the strongest in the country with no cap on accrual for employees working at least 40 hours per year. While vacation payout is not mandated, written vacation policies are strictly enforced.
