Alaska minimum wage - 2026
Official rates sourced from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development
Alaska minimum wage overview
Alaska's minimum wage is indexed to inflation and adjusts automatically each January 1 based on the Consumer Price Index. Alaska also requires tipped employees to receive the full minimum wage with no tip credit allowed.
Alaska is one of only a handful of states that prohibits the tip credit entirely - tipped workers must receive the full minimum wage regardless of tips received. This is significantly more protective than the federal standard.
Governing law
Alaska minimum wage is governed by Alaska Statutes AS 23.10.065 (AS § 23.10.065). This statute establishes the minimum hourly wage that Alaska employers must pay covered employees.
The official authority for minimum wage enforcement in Alaska is the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development. For official rate verification or to report a minimum wage violation, contact the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development directly.
What if my employer pays less than minimum wage?
If your employer is paying you less than the Alaska minimum wage of $11.91 per hour, you have the right to file a wage claim with the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development. You may be entitled to recover back wages plus penalties. Most states allow you to recover unpaid wages going back 2-3 years. You can also file a complaint with the federal U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division which enforces the federal minimum wage under the FLSA.
